80% fewer operational errors after direct ERP integration
Fewer operational errors once the warehouse platform talked to Salesforce directly, instead of through manual re-entry between the two systems.
The result
80% fewer operational errors once the warehouse platform talked to Salesforce directly.
What was built
A direct integration between Salesforce and the client's warehouse management system (WMS) — the specific system behind what's sometimes called an ERP integration — built and maintained by a different vendor, using the Workato iPaaS platform alongside custom Apex REST resources, replacing manual re-entry between the two systems with an automated data sync.
Situation
The client is a nationwide home remodeling company with about 5,000 employees. Warehouse inventory data was previously re-entered by hand between their WMS and Salesforce.
Timeline
About 6 months. The integration itself was straightforward to scope; most of the time went into reverse-engineering the third-party WMS's limited documentation so the integration matched its actual behavior — the kind of unknown that comes up in real integration work, and it didn't slip the delivery date.
